CDs in Stock Part 1

My house is overflowing with CDs! It’s crazy. We have so much good stuff in stock. And I need these CDs out of my house and into yours.

So let me start another round-up of items that catch my eye as I review our inventory...

10: We have the rare Warner Bros. Japanese CD of Henry Mancini’s score to 10, $25. Doesn’t have the obi strip, alas, but you don’t see copies of this very often—or at least I don’t, and this is my business now!

1941: We have one copy of the Bay Cities CD of the album program of this John Williams/Spielberg classic. I know the expanded La-La Land is the one people want, and it’s even harder to come by. Bay Cities was such a great label in the early 1990s, and gone too soon! $20

1985 at the Movies: We have one copy of the Varèse Sarabande “1985” collection. This is the 6CD boxed set, see the contents at Discogs—it’s got The Goonies in it, the entire album! Very nice collection. Only $25.

20th Century Fox: Music From the Golden Age: I really loved this sampler CD when it came out in the late 1990s. It’s loaded with classic Newman, Herrmann, Friedhofer, Goldsmith, Waxman, et al. This was such a great preview of all those fantastic Fox scores that were soon to be released. It’s only $3 and we have copy 1 and copy 2 available. I would totally recommend this as an introductory sampler for anybody curious about the Golden Age of film music. And if you hate it, it was only $3.

3 Worlds of Gulliver: We have one copy of the Herrmann fantasy score on Cloud Nine. In the year I’ve been selling CDs, I think this was the only copy I saw? $20

48 Hrs.: This early James Horner urban action score is SO GOOD. This is the first edition that Intrada released; they did a second one adding some alternates, but all you’d really need is on this one. $15.

7 Faces of Dr. Lao: One of my favorite projects at FSM—this Leigh Harline score to the 1964 George Pal fantasy is absolutely a delight. Hard to find now, $35.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence: We have one copy of the expanded 3CD set of this Williams/Spielberg masterwork for $65. (This is La-La Land’s first edition, not the 20th anniversary reissue.) Such a unique film, and a strange tone combining the Spielberg and Kubrick aesthetics. Williams’s music is so sensitive and heartbreaking, and always so tuneful. My favorite cue is this piece from the original album:

Above and Beyond: One of my favorite Friedhofer scores, and a fondly remembered FSM project. The original Oppenheimer movie! Copy 1 and copy 2 are $15 each, and we even have the stoopid Membran bootleg for only $2 (for which I’m pretty sure the bastards just ripped our master, thanks guys). Check out this main title theme:

Fantastic!

Okay that’s enough for today—this might take a while to get through the whole inventory. But I love this stuff, so it’s fun!

Thanks!
