Cutthroat Island: This symphonic pirate score by John Debney has always been a favorite of the collectors. We have a copy of the out-of-print La-La Land for $65; the previous expanded issue on Prometheus for $35; and the original nuMillennia for $8.
D.A.R.Y.L: We have a copy of the La-La Land edition of this Marvin Hamlisch ’80s score for $65.
And now...the DAMAGED section. From time to time CDs get to us and they are, ahem, messed up: either missing discs or booklets, or scuffed, or water-damaged—eeek! But instead of tossing them, we just mark them down to a buck or three.
It’s always been funny to me how different collectors can be. Some people are like, “Torn booklet, missing a tray card—whatever! I just want the music.” And others send me emails, “Could you please examine your three copies of Star Trek: The Motion Picture and count the number of specks on the disc, measuring the length of anything over 2mm, and rating each imperfection on a scale of 1 to 10? Then do the same for the booklets and pick the best ones of each for me. But please send pictures first.”
You can imagine which customer is easier to deal with, but I’m really not troubled by people who are perfectionist—I get it! And I’m here to help (to a reasonable point).
Anyway, we did get a bunch of CDs this time that had evidently been stored in a shed or something because they were pretty gross and needed a lot of cleaning. Fun!
I’m not going to go disc-by-disc on the damaged titles but they start on this page at the store and there are some totally awesome bargains there. Lots of them are just $1 so you could buy 20 for $20 and because the discs themselves are almost always fine, it’s a totally great way to audition titles you might have always been curious about.
Back to undamaged items:
We have one copy of the FSM Damn the Defiant!/Behold a Pale Horse (a two-for of old Colpix albums) for $25.
Another FSM: Dark of the Sun by Jacques Loussier—so good! The best Morricone theme that Morrcone never wrote. We have a used copy and a sealed one, each is $65.
A couple of Dark Shadows items: the feature film score by Elfman, on WaterTower, for $15; and The Revival Series by Bob Cobert, on Counterpoint, for $18.
We have the La-La Land Darkman by Elfman for $25; and the original album for $5.
We have the Intrada David and Bathsheba by Alfred Newman for only $8.
