I am gearing up to type the listings for some 4,800 CDs we just got in. First my trusty associate Den needs to alphabetize the collection. Otherwise it would be too hard to find things when we’re packing the orders. (Collectors typically alphabetize by composer, not title, but there are too many multi-composer, compilation-type titles to keep track of.)
It means I’ll have to spend a solid week (if not longer) going through discs and inputting their data into a spreadsheet, which is ultimately imported into www.fsmcds.com.
I am not complaining! It’s much easier now that we already have a spreadsheet with over 10K titles—all I have to do is search for the title and then added “used” or “sealed” to indicate we got in another copy. If it’s not something we’ve stocked before, then I need to add the data.
When we started out, it truly took ages because everything had to be inputted from scratch.
