We’re back in L.A. after two weeks visiting family on Martha’s Vineyard and Evanston, Illinois.
For now I am busy uploading a huge collection of slides from the 1970s of the Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket ferries and steamships to my Facebook fan page.
I know these are mostly (only?) of interest to Islanders—but they’re of huge interest to ME!
Above is the hurricane deck of the Naushon, that last commercially operating steamship on the Atlantic seaboard when she was retired in 1988. I loved this boat and this is the first time I’ve seen pictures of some of her interior cabin spaces since the 1980s.
If you remember the 1970s, you know that there was a lot more smoking!
