James Bond at Amazon

Big news this morning that Amazon is taking over creative control of James Bond.

You know what this means. Get ready for The Adventures of Q, The Origin of Goldfinger, Moneypenny in Morocco and my favorite, the one where Drax opens the gateway to the multiverse and all the Bonds team up as A.I. zombies.

Not really joking. We’re about to find out once again that Harve Bennett’s sort of pathetic excuse for the failure of Star Trek V (if you have a turkey sandwich every day [TNG], Thanksgiving is not so exciting) is actually true.

I've begrudgingly resigned myself to what seems lately like the never-ending slaughter of pop-culture sacred cows for cash-cow profit. Just take a peak at the (extremely generous) 3.8 / 10 IMDB rating for Paramount's latest, Star Trek: Section 31.

-and that's from the studio that's held the intellectual property since its infancy!

(Gene Roddenberry must be rolling in his grave.)

I try very much to keep an open-mind but my response to this news about the Bond franchise is..."Ugh. Well, there goes another one."

On the other hand, I do often enjoy the derivative soundtracks that branch off in different directions from the original franchise. Now if only they'd keep releasing them in CD format!

Edit: and I suppose on…
