I was so excited for the new year. And this year sucks!
Now we’ve lost John Morgan. Please see the FSM board where Ray Faiola broke the terrible news (and shared the above pic).
Of course I’ve known John for ages, and loved and admired his lengthy series of new recordings of classic film scores and his original music (with partner Bill Stromberg). And I remember enjoying Bill and John’s company on more than one occasion.
Back in the 1990s film music re-recordings had a reputation for being cheap and borderline unlistenable. Bill and John put in the time, care and knowledge to make them truly enjoyable and lasting tributes to this music we love.
It was fitting that they would name their label Tribute Film Music. Farewell to a great musician and a good man.
