L.A. Concert Tonight

Late notice alert! I can’t make it but I wish I could:

The Los Angeles Film Orchestra will be returning to the stage on June 14, 2024 at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The concert will feature the World Premiere of Pictures at an Exhibition: The Paintings of Bob Peak, 10 new movements by 10 composers! New music by Michael Abels, Jeff Beal, Marco Beltrami, Bill Conti, Mychael Danna, Ihab Darwish, Don Davis, Harry Gregson-Williams, Maria Newman and Marc Shaiman.

Abu Dhabi Festival and Robert Townson Productions are collaborating on one of the grandest musical commissions of our time, to create Pictures at an Exhibition: The Paintings of Bob Peak, an all-new piece, for a new age. These ten composers have each composed a new movement, each piece inspired by a painting by the legendary and iconic artist Bob Peak (1927-1992).

The first half of the concert will be a tribute to Bob Peak’s Hollywood career, with music by Leonard Bernstein (West Side Story), Frederick Loewe (My Fair Lady and Camelot), Richard Wagner (Ride of the Valkyries from Apocalypse Now), Jerry Goldsmith (Star Trek: The Motion Picture), Bruce Broughton (Silverado) and John Williams (Superman: The Movie).

The entire concert will be conducted by the legendary Leonard Slatkin.

Tickets are on sale now:

Her Excellency Huda Alkhamis-Kanoo, Founder of Abu Dhabi Festival and Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation will be in attendance.

There will be a pre-concert lecture starting at 7:00 pm with Richard Kraft, Jon Burlingame, Matthew Joseph Peak and Thomas Peak.
