I read an article in New York magazine that’s way more interesting than it sounds: an exploration of the new LED light bulbs and why they don’t look as good as the old incandescent ones.
It was especially relevant to me, as somebody who wants to be a film director, because of how little I know about cinematography.
I’m sort of “backwards” in that regards: I know a lot about sound (super helpful in postproduction), but not about light.
I’ve read plenty of “dummies” articles on lighting and photography, and I get the basics, but the subtleties of it...I’m a work in progress.
The science of it is deeply fascinating. Our eyes are fooled all the time when it comes to light and especially color, and it’s kind of freaky to realize how subjective it is.
