One of the fun things that happened in producing the FSM CDs was getting to meet writer and director Nicholas Meyer, when we released CDs for his films Time After Time and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and he kindly contributed to the liner notes.
I’ve always been a fan not only of his movies and novels, but his philosophies—even going back to the 1980s when I read interviews with him in Starlog magazine. Get his memoirs, The View From The Bridge, it’s terrific—here’s his official site.
Here’s a recent talk Nick gave in Toronto, “The Philosophy of Composition.”
I'm not the world's biggest Trekkie but A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE is a terrific read.
Meyer is one of those people who's been in my orbit for decades. His adaptation of THE HUMAN STAIN remains the only Philip Roth movie adaptation worth seeing.
P.S. The introduction assures me, again, that I will never be a Trekkie.
