UPDATE 9:35AM: We have added credit card payments by Stripe—and they work! Please use those until we can get PayPal fixed. Thank you!!!
###
Folks, I am just so terribly sorry about the horrendous first day we had with the website, www.fsmcds.com.
Having people be unable to order, and have things vanish from their shopping carts—it’s the ultimate nightmare. I know how upset and frustrated you guys must be, and before we launched I was like, “Please let this work.”
It didn’t work. I didn’t think ahead well enough, I didn’t ask enough questions. PayPal really screwed us—but I should have been on top of this.
Wait, I won’t go that far!!!
So in case people are wondering what I am even talking about: right now our new site does not work, www.fsmcds.com, because PayPal put a hold on my business account for being, well, new (what a sin). I had to submit all kinds of crazy explanations and documents to get approved and they are supposedly reviewing.
In the meantime, it’s possible Venmo works—and we are getting Stripe added to the site asap to take credit cards without all of PayPal’s malarkey.
About the shopping carts: Under normal circumstances, they will have an hour time limit so people can shop without losing their items to other customers.
First of all: you must create an account before adding things to your cart. Or else they will vanish if you click away and come back. Ack!!!
Second of all, we updated the time-out period to 24 hours, then 48. However, I am now told that if your cart had stuff in there when we changed the setting to 24 hours, it won’t automatically update to 48. Argh.
I know people have had the bad experience of emptying their carts to restock them (and restart the timer) and lost their items.
Just sit tight and I’ll have another update for you in an hour.
Apologies, truly.
Lukas, I hope you aren’t too discouraged. It’s a very nice thing you’re doing for the families of collectors who have passed, or for people who want to sell their collections. It’s also a nice thing you’re doing for the eager buyers. You clearly don’t have to do this, but you are. I know you take the bumps in the road personally, but you should also take personally how grateful and happy your efforts are making people. I hope your sale goes well and you continue to do them from time to time.
Stripe didn't accept my debit card at 1st but it went through on the 2nd try! Paypal are such idiots!
I know second-hand how difficult it is to set up e-commerce, so I totally understand the bumps in the road you've been dealing with. Thanks for all your hard work, and a thanks to the family of the late gent who made this CD sale possible. I can't believe I found (still in stock, presumably) what I just ordered for the prices they were listed for, so I'm ecstatic! Not looking forward to the credit card bill, but screw it - quite possibly a once-in-a-lifetime deal!
I must admit that I gave up on it, but it's just one of those things. Not your fault Lukas. I hope things sort themselves out. I look forward to future sales.
