Screenwriter Cole Haddon has posted a lengthy essay on his blog about Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, and the contradictions of his character.
It’s very well reasoned, although I can’t rent any part of my brain at the moment to analyze.
The essayist makes reading his work hard, with some sort of a pop-up sign-in/sign-up in which I have no interest. I labored long enough to see that he operates from the assumption that self-interest is neither moral nor heroic. That was enough for me to realize that reading any further would be a waste of my precious time.
Besides, anybody mindful already knows that STAR WARS, right down to its music, is mindless.
