Here’s something hardcore Star Wars fans know about—including me—but I hadn’t seen reconstructed: the original, slightly shorter ending of The Empire Strikes Back, as released on 70mm.
What’s the difference? Just a couple of VFX shots that George Lucas had ILM add—after the movie was already released—to clarify the geography of where Lando and Chewie were in relation to Luke, Leia and the droids on the hospital ship.
Film music fans might have stumbled upon this because it explains why some of the cue “Yoda and the Force” was edited into the score, to cover the new footage.
