Many thanks to David Page for continuing his deep dive into the Original Series Star Trek scores with a half-hour YouTube video on Jerry Fielding and “The Trouble With Tribbles”:
I am a huge Fielding fan and have always been fascinated by his intricate, dazzling orchestrations. But there’s almost nothing available in written form to study—so bravo to David for the transcriptions in this video, as well as his explanation of the slowed-down trombone parts (a common Fielding “gag”).
I haven't seen the original series in decades, but still remember that weird sound Fielding came up with.
Fielding used the orchestra but in its way his music is as out-there in its own way as Gil Melle's. DEMON SEED is outstanding, and his score for ALFREDO GARCIA is perfect.
P.S. Come on, guys, give Lukas some love so he doesn't have to deal with an evil (sorta) conservative, he needs some people he doesn't consider evil on this excellent site!
I loved the Original series music could've had the La La Land box set when it was out but just might get these new sets
