Back when I had the FSM label most of our business was from Warner Bros. There were some very supportive executives and we got a lot done. Times have changed and in recent years it’s become difficult to near-impossible for the specialty labels to license titles.
I was wondering what’s up with the studio and saw this news of a new joint venture with The Cutting Edge (former owners of Varèse Sarabande) to the tune of a billion dollars.
Seeing that kind of money, you realize why the studio would not be interested in five or ten grand here or there for a vintage soundtrack release!
Hopefully down the road when they are operational they’ll have a bureaucracy set up to handle smaller requests. But it could be years...or never? We’ll see.
